Relentless Boardmasters

I’ve had a hectic few days down at the coast for Relentless Boardmasters.  I started my journey in Braunton at the Nalu Beads Head Office catching up with the team which turned into a few drinkies and a brainstorming sesh.  Then an early start on Thursday, Newquay bound to set up a Nalu workshop outside Anns Cottage on Fistral, which went very well despite the weather.  Evening came and after some dinner it was time to head to the Beach Bar to carry on the evening – drinking, dancing and fun times were had!

Friday morning we were all a little sleepy but nothing a trip to the local greasy spoon couldn’t fix.  Nalu had been invited to hold the Friday workshop in the Roxy tent which was awesome.  They were there in full force designing Roxy t-shirts and trucker hats with spray paints and we got to make our own as well.  It was super busy and we were going strong all day, people left right and centre wanting to get some Nalu Bead action.

Fellow Nalu Team Rider, Corinne Evans, and I had kindly been invited by Cadburys to get involved with a TV show they are sponsoring, Minute to Win, so we went to the Cadburys Spots v Stripes arena to play some games which was so much fun!  There were so many people getting involved which was great to see.  We also got to play games with and interview Charlie Simpson (of Fightstar and also a solo artist) and Leon Taylor (Team GB Olympic Diving Silver Medalist), it was good to see what they were up to now!  Charlie has been working hard on a solo album and was doing two shows at Boardmasters, one at Fistral and the other at the main Festival site at Watergate Bay.  Leon is working hard on motivational speaking and getting involved with the build up to Olympics 2012.  Both very interesting and nice guys!

After a very busy Friday, I headed to the festival site to party which included drinking desperados, eating burgers with proper chedder in and dancing to the Klaxons.  Good times.

Saturday morning was welcomed with a fry up to recover my fuzzy head.  The day was made easier with the massive sofas in the Headland Hotel lounge which is where I spent a good few hours hanging out and watching the surfing.  It was a good thing I felt back to normal just in time for a lifestyle photo shoot with Dragon out on the rocks on Fistral Beach.  Dragons everywhere! Loved it!

Beads, Butlers & Brighton

What a weekend!  I can now say that swimming in the sea, eating vietnamese food and drinking champers completely gets rid of the common cold.  It was my cousins hen-do and we were rocking it in full force in Brighton!!  Friday night was full of catching up (with champers) and some yummy pho, then rest for the Saturday shenanigans.

Saturday was welcomed with a dip in the sea to rid us of our fuzzy heads before tucking into bacon butties.  Everyone wandered off for a spot of shopping while two of the other bridesmaids and I headed back to the appartment to prepare!  As the girls started to come back, we had our lovely well dressed butler at the door ready with a glass of champers for them.  Pictures of their faces were priceless!!  Drinking carried on with more eating and then we headed out for some, well, more eating – afternoon tea to be precise.  We headed to a cozy little tea room which was absolutely filled to the brim with Royal Family memorabilia for high tea and of course, more champers!  The Queen was there as well.

The rest of the evening was spent in a couple of very nice bars on the waterfront and then followed by drinking games in the Parisian Boudoir which we had all to ourselves, and schooling onlookers by throwing some shapes on the dance floor.  Oh, mustn’t forget the 2am fry up at a greasy spoon as well…

I was able to take some gifts for everyone in the way of Nalu Beads.  So, while drinking champers, everyone was getting involed in making something with their kits, bracelets, necklaces, pendants..  Seeing as we were in Brighton and there is now a Brighton Nalu Bead (which is now available on the Nalu Website), we worked these into our designs!

The weekend was absolutely brilliant, we were all up for a party, the sun was out, the sea was warm, the butler was in the buff and the champers was flowing!

My cousins wedding will be taking place in Angers in France in early September which I cannot wait until and am already soooo excited!!  It will be so much fun to see people there that were at the hen-do and get to party together (and eat) some more.

Les temps d’amusement à Brighton avec les amis. Voir-vous en France!

Relentless Pro Tour

Last Saturday, Sheffield held the first stop of the Relentless Pro Tour, and were we lucky? Hell yeah we were!  Now I always try my hardest to get up to Sheffield for their Ten Feet High series, but its the friendly banter that draws me up there, not the weather.  However, on Saturday, the wake gods were looking down on us as we were bless with bright sunshine (enough to actually tan in) and pure glass.  Everything came together for this event that Mr Matt Crowhurst had worked so hard on getting together for us.

Before the comp started, everyone headed out to session the new rooftop transfer rail that was being uncovered just as we got to the lake, it still had the film on the polyprop!  Everyone seemed to be loving it and most opted to hit it their comp runs rather than the a-frame.  The guys were transfering to backlip to 90 off, niiice!

The girls final kicked off with everyone going big.  The competiton run started out of corner two so inverts were being throw right up the top, something you don’t usually see but it was great as it meant people were pushing it.  I had a solid run with a blind 180, dragon slider boned out, new roof top boned then into frontside and 90 out, inside backroll then switch 360 and finishing off jibbing the fun box 180 out.  It wasn’t enough, after all it isn’t called the Pro Tour for nothing!  My second lap I landed my new switch backroll but yet again, it threw me off for my inside roll!  I got a nice front edge that didn’t hit me till Sunday night and by Monday arvo I was in agony and was sent to A&E, fun times.

Results:

Women – 1st Tor Young, 2nd Steph Caller, 3rd Chloe Goudie

Men – 1st Daniel Grant, 2nd Lewis Cornwall, 3rd Connor Jones
