British Cable Wakeboarding

This year we will be seeing a slight change in British Cable Wakeboarding.  The UK will be holding more IWWF affiliated competitions.  This means riders can earn points to go towards their International Rankings at other comps rather than just at the Nationals – these events can be seen on www.cablewakeboard.net.  There are no set British Team Trials this year, but development group selectors will be in attendance of these events.

JB is kicking off the first of these competitions on the 15th April.  There will be wakeboard and wakeskate categories, as long as enough riders have entered to open the category.  On the other hand, there are limited spaces so you need to get entering if you want to compete. If you would like an entry form just ask your local cable, or contact me and I will send you one as soon as I can.

Do you like this change?  You can have your say by taking this BWSW survey… click here.

I personally think its great for the UK to have this level of competition held at our cables.  It will not only increase the awareness of the sport, which will also help the push to be in the 2020 Olympics, but it will help promote our cable parks as well.  Also it gives riders who don’t/can’t travel to competitions abroad, the chance to earn points towards their National / International rankings.

Everybody Wins! 😀

Devon

What a beautiful weekend in Devon!  I got to surf Croyde and Woolacombe, eat scones with clotted cream and jam, drink desperadoes (wasn’t the same without the WakeGirls), surf in fog so thick you couldn’t see the shore, sunbathe and hang out with Nalu Beads 🙂

It was so foggy that to surf check, I had to walk right to the waters edge to just make out the waves breaking.. even then I could hardly see them!  Surfing in the fog was very erie, I couldn’t see the shore or what waves were coming until they were about 40 yards away. The ocean was like glass and the fog and water all blended into one as the sunlight was trying to shine through, it was like being on another planet or something.  I’m amazed to have experienced that as I never would have thought I’d surf in such conditions – I was bricking it most of the time!

Here are a few pics 🙂

Just as I came in and were walking up the beach, the fog just lifted, just like that.  The sun came out and you could see how clean the waves were.. and then it got busy!  I got the opportunity to get my post surf eat on, and to catch some rays in the lovely March sun.

Sorry there are no surfing pics – I need to recruit a photographer – although you wouldn’t have been able to see anything anyway.. too much fog!

Love Devon, till next time…

Nalu Beads on Snow

Last Friday night was Parkstrife at the SNO!zone Milton Keynes.  This is a park night but has a bit more going on, like a DJ on the slope, tea/hot chocolates and sweets being handed out, and prizes up for grabs!  Nalu Beads were involved this month with the girls side of things.  The park team had set up a couple of easier toys on the slope with an instructor on hand to help the girls progress and learn new tricks.

Here are a few pics from that night…

It was a fun night, thanks to the girls who came to shred and thanks to SNO!zone’s Park Team who made it happen.

Watch out for more girly Nalu Bead snowboarding fun events…!!
