Nationals

So last weekend it was the British Cable Wakeboard Nationals over at Box End Park. I’ve competed in the Nationals more times than I can remember and I haven’t missed one since I started.  This year was no different.

I just had my second little boy and so I never really thought I’d be able to ride in this years’ event.  But I did!  I’m surprised I actually managed to get to my heat on time (thanks Jon for ‘babysitting’) let alone come 2nd in the Masters Ladies!

I squeezed in about 10 laps at BEP the Sunday before the event, so I managed to figure out what features I could hit and what I still had to avoid this soon after giving birth, and so I hadn’t really thought of a run until the morning of the finals.  Managing the two kids plus serious tiredness sucks pretty much every ounce of brain power you have, (nap times, breast feeding, breast pumping, shitty nappies, naked obsessed toddler, bath times, bed times…wine, ahhhh).

In the qualifier I was loving just being on the water so much that I actually forgot I was in a comp run… I came round the drive tower and thought, ‘Theres the kickers’, and then as I got closer my next thought was ‘….HIT ONE!!’

I entered the event this year because it was my first year in the Masters Ladies and I was just so excited to be in this category!  I just wanted to have fun with the other competitors, which I did, they were a great bunch of ladies to ride with!  But I’m stoked to come away with 2nd place only eight weeks after I had my little bubba!  Crazy!

Second Ride | NFWP

11049606_914617351908202_3367470378388452683_nLast weekend I had the chance to ride down to New Forest Wake Park for the first time since it opened.  Its a fun little set up with some great toys to session. It was my second time back on the water after I had baby Oli just five weeks ago so as you can imagine, I was gagging to get on the water.

I rode for a whole hour this time and now I am paying for it.  My body hurts and aches in places I’d forgotten I had, even my hands ache.  Seriously??  What is going on there.

I actually hit some toys on this ride which felt good but I’m soooo sketchy at the moment… like super sketch – but I don’t care because I’m back on the water baaabbbbyyyyy and friggin loving it!  Yeeeeah riding again!

40 Weeks (and counting).

Don’t let my smile fool you, I am one grumpy mother.

The ‘due date’ is a double edged sword – yes it is in fact just a guideline, but it is also the light at the end of the tunnel for the person in question.  And when that date comes and goes, any mum will tell you that the days to follow are some of the longest of your life. You get increasingly uncomfortable, sleeping is pretty hit or miss (I was awake from 1am – 3am last night, for no apparent reason) and the ‘Any news?’ messages/calls keep rolling in.

And then you have people saying, enjoy the peace, get some rest, pamper yourself!  Yes that would be amazing, but I have a two year old, I can’t reach my toes anymore, and when its a nursery day its hard to book anything in because of the slim chance that I might be in labour.

Also, EVERYONE lets you know what you can do to bring on labour, like you haven’t been studying the book for months already, (and trying out the most popular since week 37).  I’ve also completely forgotten whats in my hospital bag now as its been sitting by the door for over a month – reminds me, I’d better go through it to double check everything.

….Big thanks to my close friends and family who have had to bear the brunt of my constant grumpiness, I will make it up to you by letting you come over and play with a brand new baby, (just bring food with you please)!

Below is a comparison pic, 40 weeks pregnant with my first on the left, and 40 weeks pregnant this time around on the right.
