This August I hosted my first ever Girls Day! We were amazingly lucky to have the sun shining and temperatures reaching 30degrees! Big thanks to the weather Gods! We started out at 9am with a warm up from Kurup Fit to get everyone ready for the glass. It was then time to ride so the girls got on it with coaching from myself and National Champion Sarah Kingdom! The girls were all different ability levels from beginners right up to seasoned riders. It was great to see everyone pushing themselves. There was a constant stream of girls swimming from the kickers which you often get when the water warms up – people don’t mind falling in!
Red Bull were there all day! They kept us energised with cool boxes over flowing with cans of Red Bull, and they also provided us with tunes for the day! The girls rode for a couple of hours with the cable all to themselves.
After a morning of riding we had a chill out session which included a Nalu Bead workshop, Lau Lau’s express mani/pedis and also sports massages from KURUP FIT. The break was also a great time to enjoy the amazing weather!
Once rested, it was time for the second session! The girls got back on it and were improving on what they had been trying in the morning session. I was amazed at some of the girls stamina, they just kept on going, it was brilliant to see! It was then time to end the Girls Day. I had some goodies to give out for all the girls efforts..
The prizes went to: Nalu Beads – Ellen for her first time on the cable and just kept on going! Two Seasons – Gee who was indestructible and had some truly spectacular stacks off the dock. Wide-A-Wake – Kim who keep falling off the dock and then just ‘got it’ as if a switch had been flipped! KURUP FIT – Liz who got further than she’d ever got before! WakeMK – Mel who has been working hard over the last few sessions and its really paying off. Dragon – Sharm who has done fantastically this season by learning scarecrows, raleys and a backrolls all in one summer!! WELL DONE GIRLS! But also a huge thank you to all the girls who came and got involved, and thanks for helping to spread the word of wakeboarding a little bit more..
BIG thanks to everyone who supported and provided prizes: Nalu Beads, Two Seasons, Wide-A-Wake, KURUP FIT, WakeMK, Dragon.
Thanks to Sarah Kingdom for helping with the coaching!
