Arms | Workout

Bootcamp was fun yesterday.  Ten stations, ten different exercises, 45seconds on each one, repeat three times.  When I was pregnant I couldn’t workout as much as I wanted to, more because I just didn’t feel like I had the energy rather than anything else.  Like anyone else, I have parts of my body that I’m unhappy with and parts that I love.  Well the things I normally love about my body are my arms, with wakeboarding they are always in shape and I never worry about wearing sleeveless clothing items.  But during my pregnancy I hated them, they became extremely untoned and wobbled all over the shop.  It took a fair amount of work and a some time to get them back to what is normal for me.

A few tips for toning your arms:

Push Ups | anyway you can – on your knees, use the kitchen side or bench, full press ups

Dead Lifts | you can get different kettle bells weights / a gallon of water (see top photo)

Swings | kettle bell swings

Tricep Dips | Using a bench or kitchen chair

Wakeboarding | This gets the guns engaged

Surfing | Just paddling around is a workout in itself

Keep your eyes peeled for more work out tips!

Hey Lex! Things are really good thanks!

| Have you been getting some Spring swell action down there in Newquay?

I’ve been surfing heeps! The waves have been really fun in Cornwall and its finally starting to warm up, I’ve been surfing some different spots which are still right on my door step, which I’ve been loving!

| I’ve seen you’ve had some winter sun, fill us in!

You’re correct! I’ve just got back from the Canaries. I went on an actual holiday with my partner. We surfed loads, ate lots of delicious food and sampled some local cervezas! It was an absolute dream.

| What was the best thing about your trip?

The best this is surfing where you want when you want and getting to surf new waves and reefs.

| Do you have some more trips in the pipeline for this year?

I’m off to France in June/July to host my Girls Surf Camp. I love hanging out with the guys at Feral Surf Camp, glamping and surfing all day. What more could I want.

Yep I’m in my third year.. where has the time gone! This year I decided to changes things up a little and host ability specific lessons. I’m running Gidget (Beginner) Courses, Margo (Intermediate) Courses and Rell (Advanced) Courses. I just want to ensure I’m offering lessons for all ages and abilties.

| Whats the best thing about them?

It makes it easier for women when booking in and ensures they get the best possible coaching for their abilities!

Newquay – Newquay Surfing School, Croyde – Croyde Surf Acadmey, Wales – Porthcawl Surf School, France – Feral Surf Camp Bordeaux

| So other than surfing you’re a model as well. Living the dream! Which do you prefer, surfing or modelling… or are they pretty much hand in hand?

They do pretty much go hand in hand but Surfing is my a real passion and the thing I will do even when I am really really old!

| You’re a busy girl, what do you do in your down time?

I practice a lot of yoga and pilates and cook a lot of food. My family and friends know me as a feeder. Nothing makes me happier than feeding people food I’ve cooked from scratch.

| What boards will you be riding this year?

This year I will mostly be riding my epic Doofer and Bettsy. Both boards are shaped my Luke Hart and Fourth Surfboards and are by far the best boards I have ever ridden. He’s shaped boards that have helped me progress a lot this year.

| What wetsuits are you loving?

I’m currently surfing the next season C-Skins Angel and Wired winter suits which as amazing. So flexible and warm. I am hoping it won’t be long till I’m surfing my C-Skins Rewire, it just needs to warm up a little.

| Whats going to be you season staple?

My season staples would have to be the Animal Ivella Swimsuit and Animal Napa Sandals. I am loving a swimsuit this season and you can’t go wrong with a pair of gladiator sandals.

| Summer tipple of choice?

It has to be Elderflower Presse, it’s just so delicious!

| What will you be whipping up in the kitchen this summer?

What won’t I be whipping up haha! I love cooking and I try and cook anything and everything.

| Shoutouts?

My sponsors… Animal C-Skins Fouth Surfboards Nalu Beads Northcore KE Surfboard Art.  And my legendary boyfriend/manager Ben Jones 😉

Portugal | Live like a local

SONY DSCThis must have been about my tenth trip to Portugal over the past few years.  However boring this might seem I have my reasons:

1. When compared to Morocco & France, its always worked out the cheapest.

2. After testing out a few places within Portugal, Peniche has the bonus of always having a place to surf whatever the wind / swell direction.

3. We stay on an Island which is super quiet and can walk to about five different waves in under five minutes.

4. Even after all this time and after all the adverts in surf mags for the various surf schools out there, its still pretty quiet.  Just locals and fishermen.  The ‘tourists’ that are there, are surfers.

5. Its warmer than England.  4.3mm weather October through to April.

Where to stay – look up Baleal Rentals if you like the self catering situ.  Run by a lovely couple who will make you feel extremely welcome.

Where to get sorted – head to 58 Surf for all your boards / wetsuit rentals / surf clothing / Nalu Beads / wax..  you name it, they have it!

Where to get a coffee – there are a few cafes around but I like the Praia do Baleal Cafe because you can get a good cup of coffee or a desperado, its cheap, it has free wifi and you can sit back and watch the surf and the sunset.

photo 1-3 - Version 2Getting there – Fly Easy Jet, Luton to Lisbon, its about 2.5hrs.  Rent a car (Europcar are associated with Easy Jet).  Get a map and head North West on the A8 and then West on the IP6.  It takes about an hour (with a snack stop).

Getting around – you have a car so its no problem.  You need a car ideally in case the breaks local to you are not working, Supertubos and Molhe Leste are a seven minute drive depending on who you’re stuck behind on the Baleal to Peniche single road.  You also need the car for the supermarket if you’re in self catered accommodation.

What to take – Obvs your boards and wetsuits if you have them.  A key pod.  Its not a flashy place, leave anything valuable at home to prevent it vanishing.  Clothing wise, take a few warm layers for the colder days and evenings.  Take warm stuff to wear in your apartment after surfing.  Otherwise make sure you pack your bikini for those sun traps!
