Hannam’s Wake Hub

SONY DSCYesterday I ventured out to find Hannam’s Wake Hub.  Its situated near Cambridge but definitely off the beaten track.  You drive down the A10 for a while to find a little turning that features a big blue arrow indicating you’re nearly at your SONY DSCmuch sought after destination.  After locating the farm gate and passing through, you feel like you’re heading into the middle of nowhere.  It was my first time and because of the time of year, the sun was low in the sky, the roads were covered with glistening mud and there was absolutely no sign of a single soul for miles.  I carried on and followed the strategically place wakeboard signs to the Hub.

I made my way up to the lakes where I was welcomed by friendly people and some much needed glass.  It was actually a little erie (in a good/beautiful way) because of the angle of the sun and the lake’s setting, the sky and water were nearly touching and were almost blending into one, absolutely amazing for a wake lake!

I had a fun session, some great features to sink your teeth into.  SONY DSCSuper smooth and very progressional, great kickers as well.  And my favourite thing in these chilly temperatures is no swimming, you just grab the handle and get going again!  Overall, a very fun location and I will definitely be heading back for more! 🙂

Cable Review: Cable-Ski Marbella

IMG_3167IMG_3166Not actually situated in Marbs but based in San Pedro, CableSki Marbella is set in a sunken lake a tad off the beaten track which gives you that slightly smug feeling of discovering something.  You need to park on the road and walk over a concrete knoll, you’ll then arrive at the cable, a busy and vibrant setting with groms running round, families relaxing by the pool, peeps enjoying a brewski at the bar / restaurant area, and sun tanners lounging on the sun beds.  The pro shop is very well equipped and will cater to all your wake needs.  The team are friendly and you will most certainly not be the only English there.  With a fun vibe and upbeat non-offensive music pumping out, its a great place to hang out!

IMG_8890 - Version 2I went there in September when there were just two kickers and one box.  However they’ve been busy!  They now have another new kicker, a rail/tabletop and a new roof top! I’d only ever hit a table on a snowboard before so it was a new experience for me, but I loved it, loads of things you could get up to on it… just wish I’d had more than an iPhone with me for the snaps!  So if you’re in the area (Marbs, Puerto Banus, San Pedro) then definitely stop by the cable. Its a great set up for a day of wake boarding, tanning and chilling with a beer!   Thanks Cable-Ski Marbella for a good time! 🙂
